Live Coverage of USHA Shotgun Tournament at Dallas Gun Club

Project Date -
May 18, 2024

Project Background

Live Streaming shotgun shooting sports can be difficult due to the fast-paced nature of small moving targets. However, the United States Helice Association believed that their game would be perfect for streaming. Unlike sporting clays or regular skeet shooting, Helice is easy for spectators to watch, so this project translated perfectly to live streaming.

A person operates a camera, capturing another person in the distance who is standing on a concrete path with a target in the background. In the foreground, there is a laptop displaying live streaming software.
A person wearing a brown cap and headphones operates a professional video camera mounted on a tripod, meticulously managing the live streaming setup. The blue sky serves as the background, with the camera's viewfinder visible
A person in athletic attire stands on a grassy field holding a gun. In the live stream feed, the foreground text reads "USHA 101," "Varn, Martin," and "105." Trees and a clear sky are visible in the background.
A computer screen displays a network management interface for a Peplink device bonding WAN connections. Various networks are listed, including statuses like "Connected to T-Mobile" along with IP addresses.

Project Requirements

The USHA approached Copano Media Group to livestream their May tournament at the Dallas Gun Club. USHA required that Copano Media Group stream the entire tournament on Facebook and YouTube simultaneously. Additionally, CMG was able to provide live stats and lower thirds for each shooter that approached the stand.

Project Outcome

Live streaming can be a great way to engage with a remote audience. Family members and friends who were not able to be there could view remotely. Additinally, spectators who were not at the shooting stand could also view the tournament from inside the Dallas Gun Club clubhouse.

Statistically speaking, this project alone brought in over four thousand views with an average of fifty concurrent viewers. Sponsorships were fufilled, and the organization is further reviewing the ability to stream more tournaments.
